Description
🛡️ IVERMECTIN 1.5 mg + ALBENDAZOLE 400 mg
Dual-Action Antiparasitic for Comprehensive Deworming
COMPOSITION:
-
Ivermectin 1.5 mg
-
Albendazole 400 mg
Available as oral suspension or chewable tablet
PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
This fixed-dose combination of Ivermectin and Albendazole provides a broad-spectrum antiparasitic therapy effective against a wide range of intestinal and systemic helminths. The synergistic action of both agents allows for effective treatment of mixed worm infestations, commonly seen in school-age children and in high-transmission regions.
Formulated for use in public health deworming programs, this combination improves compliance through single-dose administration and ensures enhanced parasite clearance.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
-
Ivermectin: Binds to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in the nerve and muscle cells of parasites, increasing permeability to chloride ions. This results in paralysis and death of the parasite.
-
Albendazole: Disrupts microtubule formation by binding to β-tubulin in parasite cells. This inhibits glucose uptake, leading to energy depletion and death.
Together, they act on different parasite systems, offering enhanced efficacy and reducing the chance of reinfection.
INDICATIONS:
This combination is used to treat and manage:
-
Mixed intestinal helminth infections
-
Ascariasis (roundworms)
-
Enterobiasis (pinworms)
-
Trichuriasis (whipworms)
-
Hookworm infections (Ancylostoma & Necator)
-
Strongyloidiasis
-
Cutaneous larva migrans
-
Filariasis (lymphatic)
-
Scabies (as off-label systemic support)
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
-
Adults and Children ≥2 years:
-
Single dose containing 1.5 mg Ivermectin + 400 mg Albendazole
-
May be repeated after 2–3 weeks in reinfection-prone areas
-
Take with or after food, ideally a fat-rich meal to enhance Albendazole absorption
Shake well if suspension; chew tablets thoroughly before swallowing
BENEFITS:
✅ Dual-mode action: Broad parasite coverage
✅ Single-dose treatment simplifies compliance
✅ Suitable for mass deworming campaigns
✅ Supports better nutrient absorption and growth in children
✅ Minimizes chances of resistance through combination therapy
