Description
🧬 ALBENDAZOLE 400 mg SUSPENSION
Broad-Spectrum Deworming Solution in Liquid Form
COMPOSITION:
-
Albendazole 400 mg per 10 mL oral suspension
WHAT IS IT?
Albendazole 400 mg suspension is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic in liquid form, designed for single-dose oral treatment of parasitic worm infestations. It is particularly useful for children and adults who prefer or require a non-tablet formulation. Albendazole acts against a variety of intestinal and systemic helminths, providing fast and effective deworming therapy.
HOW IT WORKS (MECHANISM OF ACTION):
Albendazole works by targeting parasite microtubules, essential for energy metabolism. It:
-
Inhibits tubulin polymerization, disrupting microtubule formation.
-
Interferes with glucose uptake in helminths, leading to energy depletion.
-
Causes immobilization and death of the parasite.
After oral administration, albendazole is metabolized in the liver to albendazole sulfoxide, the active systemic form.
INDICATIONS:
Albendazole 400 mg suspension is indicated for the treatment of:
-
Ascariasis (roundworms)
-
Enterobiasis (pinworms)
